History of the journal

The first issue of the journal ELEKTRICHESKIE STANTSII came out in the January of 1930. Since then, more than 960 issues of the journal have been published, and every year readers have been monthly receiving the journal.

During the 80 years of the journal’s existence, its founders, promoters, publishers and even its appearance have been changing, and several generations of readers and authors passed, but the focus of the journal remains unchanged, although the thematic has extended and new subdivisions appeared (see Content).

The journal ELEKTRICHESKIE STANTSII covers not only the problems directly related to the operation of power stations, but considers the whole set of problems pertaining to production, distribution and transportation of electric and heat energy.

Thematic of the journal ELEKTRICHESKIE STANTSII:

• energy economy; designing, engineering, automation, and operation of electric systems, power plants and networks; dispatching control and operating states of energy systems;

• security, development, and operation of atomic, thermal and hydro power plants, gas turbine and combined cycle gas turbine units, boiler and machinery equipment, power transformers, high-voltage equipment, air and cabling high-voltage power transmission lines, urban and rural electric networks;

• power-and-heat supply, relay protection, automatics, tie-lines, problems of surge protection and isolation, renewable energy sources and non-conventional energy.

The readers of the journal ELEKTRICHESKIE STANTSII include chief executive officers and project managers, engineers and energy specialists representing generating companies, hydro power plants, thermal power plants and nuclear power plants, thermal networks, divisions and branchs of the System Operator of the United Power System and of the Federal Grid Company of Unified Energy System, electrotechnical engineering plants, research and design institutes for energy, as well as professors and university students.

In 2006, we resumed the publication of the journal ENERGOHOZYAISTVO ZA RUBEZHOM (Energy Industry Abroad) that was published between 1956 and 1993. ENERGOHOZYAISTVO ZA RUBEZHOM provides a lot of information concerning energy power facilities in various countries. The journal is published in Russian.

This unique journal publishes articles and data that broaden readers’ knowledge about world-wide energy power facilities and promote more fruitful collaboration and beneficial and profitable relations with international partners.

The journal is intended for upper-level managers and specialists from local and international divisions of power companies of all levels, for researchers from research and development institutes, for professors and students majoring in economics and energy and for all those interested in the subject.

The journal ENERGOHOZYAISTVO ZA RUBEZHOM publishes reviews on power facilities in various countries based on the analysis of the economy, economic indices and external economic relations. Every issue is devoted to one country and covers its economy, fuel and energy resources, energy production and consumption, modern situation in the electric power industry (power system installed capacity and distribution in regions of the country, dynamics of energy production by power plants of various types, development of energy systems, export and import of electric energy, prospects for development). In addition, the journal contains information on energy systems built at the modern technical level, new technologies, special energy units which are of interest because of their high techno-economic indices, the new configuration; and other interesting facts.

The journals ELEKTICHESKIE STANTSII and ENERGOHOZYAISTVO ZA RUBEZHOM are subscription journals on the territory of the Russian Federation and abroad (see Subscription).

Since 2001, the annual collection of the journal ELEKTRICHESKIE STANTSII is available on CD, which can be ordered from the office of the editor.
